Training Service for a sustainable supply
Ensure a sustainable supply of raw materials remains a challenge in Madagascar, particularly in the fruit sector.
Producers of HavaMad partners operate in a complex rural context difficult for them to maintain a supply quantity and quality. These producers are mostly from a family farming and have plots between 0.5 and 3.5 he has. Lack of infrastructure, poor access to services, the low technical support in rural areas limit adapt their practices to the growing demands of international markets.
To ensure supply secured, responsible and durable, HavaMad is committed to supporting its producers.
Since 2016, HavaMad is partner GIZ within the project " Promoting the sustainable supply in the fruit sector "To set up a support service dedicated to the professionalization of producers and cooperatives. A team of 9 field officers spend 25% their activities to train and support :
The producers :
- On the contractual commitment : educate producers on the contract terms, hygiene standards, traceability, quality and organic certification.
- On good agricultural practices : train farmers on production technologies and support for the adoption of good practices.
- On the social side : the producers are aware of the social norms through a charter. A health insurance is offered to all producers.
And cooperatives :
- On the management of cooperatives : train members of the cooperative office to improve financial management and governance.
